The Government College of Art and Craft in Kolkata, one of the oldest and most respected art colleges in India, has started the admission process for its Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) course for the 2025–2026 session.

What is Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)?

The BFA program at GCAC is a four-year undergraduate degree course of fine arts. In Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) students will receive both theoretical and practical education. The aim of the course is to build a foundation in visual arts.

Government College of Art and Craft BFA Eligibility Criteria

To apply, candidates should have the eligibility requirements:

  • Must have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) examination or an equivalent
  • Candidates older than 23 years are not elligible.
  • Applicants sholud clear the qualifying examination no earlier than 2023.

Selection Process for BFA

Admission to the BFA program will be based on a three-step selection process:

  1. Academic Qualification
  2. Entrance Examination
  3. Viva-Voce (Oral Interview)

Examination Materials

All candidates appearing for the entrance test are required to bring their own basic art supplies. These include:

  • Quarter sheet drawing board
  • Pens and pencils
  • Erasers
  • Watercolours and brushes
  • Any other essential materials for painting or sketching

There is No Application Fee to apply for the Government College of Art and Craft BFA Program 2025–26.

Reservation Policy

The college follows the reservation guidelines as prescribed by the Government of West Bengal. Seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to ST, SC, OBC-A, OBC-B, EWS (Economically Weaker Sections), and PH (Persons with Disabilities) categories.
