The UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, Kolkata Centre has officially announced a vacancy for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a prestigious research project funded by the ANRF-PM ECRG scheme.
The selected candidate will be based at the Kolkata Centre, situated in Salt Lake, Sector-III.

About the UGC-DAE Project
The JRF will be working on a project titled:
“Identification of key cfDNA and exosomal factors in modulating the radiation bystander effect, radio-resistance and senescence development in squamous cells carcinoma.”
This research is aimed at exploring how cancer cells—especially in squamous cell carcinoma—react to radiation. It will study the roles played by cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and exosomal factors in triggering responses not just in directly exposed cells but also in surrounding healthy cells. The findings could have a significant impact on developing more effective radiation therapies and understanding how cancer cells evade treatment.
Who Can Apply for the UGC-DAE JRF Posts?
To be eligible, candidates must hold an M.Sc. or an equivalent postgraduate degree in Life Sciences, with a minimum of 55% marks. The degree should be in any one of the following specializations: Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Genetics, Neuroscience, Biotechnology, Zoology, or Botany.
Candidates who have cleared national-level eligibility examinations such as CSIR-UGC NET (Category II or III), GATE, SET, or similar tests conducted by central government agencies (e.g., DBT, ICMR) will be given preference.
In addition to academic qualifications, applicants should ideally possess good laboratory and experimental skills. A basic understanding of cancer biology would be considered an added advantage.
