What Does the PM Vidyalaxmi Scheme Offer?

The PM-Vidyalaxmi Scheme is a new government plan that helps students get easy and affordable loans for higher education in India.

  • Students can take loans without giving property papers or arranging a guarantor.
  • There is no fixed limit on how much loan a student can take.
  • Students can apply for the loan through the PM-Vidyalaxmi portal by filling out a short and easy two-page online form.

  • Students with family income up to ₹4.5 lakhs, who are studying technical or professional courses, will get 100% interest subsidy under a related scheme (PM-USP CSIS).
  • For loans up to ₹7.5 lakhs, the government will cover 75% of the risk, so banks feel safer in giving loans to more students.
