Oil India Limited (OIL) has released a new notification inviting eligible candidates from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to apply for various technical positions. These positions will be offered purely on a contractual basis, and selected individuals will be posted at the Field Headquarters of Oil India Limited located in Duliajan, Assam.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals with ITI and Diploma qualifications who are looking for technical work in the public sector. The positions involve hands-on mechanical maintenance and repair responsibilities and may require working in remote areas, under physically demanding conditions, and sometimes during odd hours or on call.
Oil India Limited Post Details
There are three types of positions available under this contract-based engagement. The company is looking to fill ten posts in total. The details are as follows:
Contractual Assistant Fitter
There are 4 openings for this role. To apply, the candidate must have passed Class 10 from a recognized board and hold a trade certificate in the Fitter trade from a government-recognized institute. I
n addition to this, at least two years of experience in related mechanical work is necessary. Experience should be in handling equipment like gas compressors, pumps, gas pipelines, and oil storage tanks.
Contractual Assistant Diesel Mechanic
This role also has 4 openings. Candidates applying for this role should have passed Class 10, and must have completed an ITI in Diesel Mechanic trade from a recognized institute.
Similar to the previous post, a minimum of two years of work experience in mechanical maintenance tasks is required.
Contractual Mechanical Supervisor
There are 2 posts available for this job. The minimum educational qualification is Class 10, and the candidate must hold a three-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a government-recognized institute.
Applicants should also have at least two years of experience in similar mechanical roles, particularly in operating and maintaining large machines and compressors.
Age Limits for the Posts
The minimum age required to apply for the Assistant Fitter and Diesel Mechanic roles is 18 years, while for the Mechanical Supervisor role, the minimum age is 24 years. The upper age limit depends on the category of the candidate:
For General category:
- 30 years for Assistant roles
- 45 years for Supervisor role
For OBC (Non-Creamy Layer):
- 33 years for Assistant roles
- 48 years for Supervisor role
For SC/ST candidates:
- 35 years for Assistant roles
- 50 years for Supervisor role

Oil India Limited Pay Scale
The salary for these contract-based roles includes both a fixed monthly amount and a variable daily payment. The details are:
For Assistant Fitter and Diesel Mechanic:
- Fixed salary is ₹21,450 per month
- ₹825 per day will be given for each working day as variable pay
For Mechanical Supervisor:
- Fixed salary is ₹24,960 per month
- ₹960 per day will be given for each working day as variable pay
This means the final monthly income will depend on the number of days worked, and the amount may vary every month.

Selection Procedure
Oil India Limited will select candidates through a Walk-in-Practical/Skill Test followed by Personal Assessment. This process will be held at Duliajan Club, Oil India Limited, Duliajan, Assam. Candidates have to register between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM on the given dates. No candidate will be allowed to register after 9:00 AM.
