If you’re passionate about Data Science and Artificial Intelligence but haven’t qualified in JEE Advanced, there’s good news. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati now offers an online Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence – a program designed to make quality tech education accessible to a broader audience, including working professionals and recent school graduates.
Applications Open for September 2025 Cohort
Applications for the September 2025 intake are now open, with the deadline extended to 30 June 2025. The application process is quick and easy, taking less than 10 minutes to complete. A nominal application fee of INR 500 is required.
This program is open to students who have completed Class XII with Mathematics as a subject. There is no requirement for a JEE Advanced rank. However, applicants must appear for a qualifying test, and admissions will be based on their performance in that test.

- Online Delivery via Coursera: The entire program is offered online through the Coursera platform, making it accessible to learners across the globe. Currently, more than 1,700 students from over 21 countries are enrolled, including those from the US, UK, Canada, China, UAE, and Bangladesh.
- Flexible Learning Options: Students can choose their pace, opting to register for fewer courses per trimester if needed. This makes the program ideal for working professionals or those pursuing another degree simultaneously.
- Multi-Entry and Multi-Exit System: The program features a flexible structure allowing students to earn a certificate, diploma, or full degree depending on how many courses they complete. This means students can exit the program at different stages and still gain a recognized qualification.
- Live Classes and Hands-On Training: In addition to online lectures, students participate in programming assignments, quizzes, and projects. There’s also an optional 4-week campus immersion at IIT Guwahati for hands-on lab training and exposure to the campus environment.
- Internship Opportunities: The program includes provisions for internships to give students real-world experience and industry exposure.
