Earlier, the online registration process was scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025, and close on September 25, 2025, but as per the latest notification, the application window will now open from August 28, 2025, and continue until September 28, 2025, without a late fee. The last date to apply with a late fee has also been extended to October 9, 2025.

The organizing institute IIT Guwahati revised the GATE 2026 registration dates due to the following expected reasons:

Step 1: Visit the Official Website
Go to the official GATE 2026 portal gate2026.iitg.ac.in. on the “GATE 2026 Registration” link on the homepage to start the application process.
Step 2: Complete One-Time Registration (OTR)
- Enter your full name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number.
- Set a secure password for your account.
- After successful registration, you will receive a unique Enrollment ID via email and SMS.
- Use this ID for all future logins and application tracking.
Step 3: Fill in the Application Form
- Log in using your Enrollment ID and password.
- Provide personal details (name, gender, date of birth, etc.).
- Enter your educational qualifications and other required academic details.
- Choose your GATE 2026 exam paper (up to two papers, if eligible).
- Select three preferred exam cities in the same GATE zone.
