Choice of Courses

  • For the B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) In the course of Studies, a candidate is required to choose his/her Honours in discipline and two other disciplines for Generic Elective courses, from among Group-I to Group-VII as follows by taking not more than one discipline from any of the groups mentioned hereunder:
  • For the B.Sc. (General) course of Studies, a candidate is required to choose three disciplines from among Group-I to Group-VII as follows by taking not more than one discipline from any of the groups mentioned hereunder:
  • For the B.A. (General) Course of Studies, a candidate is required to choose two main disciplines and for Generic Elective course the candidates are required to choose a third discipline, from among Group-I to Group-VII as follows by taking not more than one discipline from any of the groups mentioned hereunder:

Note:
The practical Based subjects (Phys, Chem, Zoo, Botany and Geography) will only be offered is the applicants have got qualifying marks in H.S (12th Class) level course.

For Economics (Hons.) the candidate should have qualifying Marks in Maths in the 12th level.

All Candidates should have qualifying marks in English at 10+2 level and The Full Marks in English (in 10+2 level) should not be less than 100.

Eligibility Criteria for Barasat Government College Admission 2021

Barasat Government College Eligibiliy
Aggregate is calculated as the sum of the 4 best subjects in WBCHSE or equivalent examination from any other board (e.g.ISC, CBSE). Students of Science/Commerce [at H.S. (10+2], who are willing to take Honours in an Arts subject will be considered, provided they get 60% or above marks in aggregate at (10+2) level. Only those candidates, who passed H.S. or equivalent Examination in the Years 2021 and in 2019, can apply. Merit marks of the candidates qualifying for the examination in 2017 would be calculated after deducting 10% from the Aggregate.

Notification:

a. Marks of ENVS will not be considered for the preparation of the merit list.
b. If two candidates have the same merit marks, the one securing higher marks in the subject would get priority for admission. In such a case of B.A/B.Sc. General course, English marks will be used.
c. If any candidate from the reserved category normally qualifies in the General list, he/she would be included in the General Category list.

*For the B.A./B.Sc. (Honours/General/Major) In the course of Studies, candidates are required to choose his/her Honours and two/three elective subjects, as the case may be, from among Group-I to Group-VII as follows by taking not more than one subject from any of the groups mentioned hereunder:

Gr. III: Chemistry, Sanskrit Gr. IV: Botany, Economics
Gr. V: Political Science Gr. VI: Geography, Philosophy
Gr. VII: English Gr.VII: Bengali

Reservation of Seats for SC/ST/OBC-A and OBC-B candidates are as follows:
(a) S.C. – 22% of total seats; (b) S.T. – 6% of total seats;
(b) OBC-A-10% of total seats.* (d) OBC-B – 7% of total seats.
(e) Physical Handicapped – 3% horizontal reservation across all categories.

3% of total seats will be reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates. The seat will be allowed from the category in which the PH candidate belongs. PH certificate issued only by the specified authority recognized by the Government would be acceptable. The degree of disability will be the determining factor in fixing the order of preference. However, such candidates must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria.

1. Attested true copy Madhyamik Mark sheet & Admit Card.
2. Attested copy of the H.S. Mark sheet and Admit Card.
3. Attested copy of SC/ST Certificate (Govt.) or, Original certificate of SC/ST (M.P. / M.L.A. Certificate).
4. Caste/Community/Disability Certificate, if applicable.
5. Proof of annual income of Parents’ from all sources (in the case of Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) quota candidates & SC candidates (if applicable)
6. 2 Coloured Photographs
